Monika Michalko's painting is magical and intuitive. She rarely starts from a blank canvas. More often than not, out of necessity, she covers existing paintings to feel their abysses. She works in the depths, not only of her own images, but also of her memory, imagination, wanderings and fantasies. Within this boundless vortex, she draws motifs from the depths of dreams, poetic thoughts or real elements.
