Lives and works in Domessargues, France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hassan Musa is one of Sudan's pioneers of contemporary art. A creator of images with multiple references: European painting, Arabic calligraphy or Chinese watercolor, Musa's paintings use printed and assembled textiles as canvas, often appropriating classical Western masterpieces to confront them with contemporary icons such as Vincent van Gogh, Titian, Josephine Baker, Che Guevara or Barack Obama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Exhibited at the Venice Biennale, the Fondation Blach\u00e8re and the Museum of African Art in New York in 2004. In 2005, he took part in the Africa Remix exhibition at the Centre Pompidou, where his work Great American Nude (2004) was presented. A \u00abmixed\u00bb female nude, somewhere between Fran\u00e7ois Boucher and Tom Wesselman. The naked young woman in the center of the canvas has the face, beard and turban of Osama Bin Laden. Since 2014, Hassan Musa has taken part in the exhibition&nbsp;<em>The Divine Comedy<\/em>&nbsp;at the MMK in Frankfurt and the Smithsonian Museum in Washington,&nbsp;<em>Treasures of Islam in Africa<\/em>&nbsp;at the Institut du Monde Arabe ( 2017),&nbsp;<em>Africa, artists past and present<\/em>, Cl\u00e9ment Foundation (2018),&nbsp;<em>African Metropolis.
