Jean-Michel Alberola

Born in Saïda, Algeria, in 1953, Jean-Michel Alberola lives and works in Paris. For the past thirty years, he has been producing a protean body of work, somewhere between figurative, abstract and conceptual art. Gouaches, neon lights, sculptures, artists' books and films are the various facets of a body of work that questions the fragility of beauty, the ambiguity of the gaze, the role of the artist and the ends of art. With humor and poetry, this committed artist never stops talking about painting, literature and politics.
