Sacha Ketoff

Born in 1949 in Saint-Dié. Died in 2014 in Paris

Sacha Ketoff is a French-Italian artist and designer. An «avant-garde» performer and installation artist, Sacha Ketoff loves play and paradox, and uses them to create extreme emotion through strong aesthetic and ethical tension. These «O.U.M.» («Oiseaux urbains malchanceux» - Unlucky Urban Birds) are to be looked at very carefully, reminding us that thinking turns lead into gold. These drawings are the fruit of a concentration that allows us to experience, stroke by stroke, this metamorphosis, but they are only one part of Sacha Ketoff's work, which also confronts us with death and its fascination that keeps us alive or, on the contrary, delivers us to the contortions, the «grotesques» of the stories, the rich hours of our lives: desires, illnesses, struggles and pleasures, the feminine, the masculine, palms and palaces, temptations and escapes in sarabands of wry humor where ancient and modern myths enter the dance.
